How to Repair a Cadillac Wiper Arm

The two most common issues afflicting a windshield wiper arm on a Cadillac vehicle are the wiper fuse, which can be replaced in a matter of minutes, and the connection between the wiper arm and the motor. Often, the wiper arm's aluminum finish may rub off and cause the connection to stick, resulting in an inoperative wiper arm. Simply removing the debris from the connection will fix the issue. In either case, repairing your Cadillac's wiper arm should not take more than five minutes.

Things You'll Need

  • Fuse puller
  • Slotted screwdriver
  • Socket wrench

Fuse Replacement

  • Open the vehicle's hood and locate the fuse block.

  • Remove the cover from the fuse block and locate the fuse labeled "WIPERS."

  • Use a fuse puller to remove the "WIPERS" fuse and install a replacement 10A fuse.

  • Reattach the cover to the fuse block and close the hood of the vehicle.

Faulty Connection

  • Pry the cover off the base of wiper arm with a slotted screwdriver.

  • Remove the 13-mm nut from the arm base with a socket wrench.

  • Pull the arm off the windshield to reveal the connection. If the grooves of the connection are filled with dirt and debris, take a few minutes to clean it out. Make sure the grooves are perfectly clean.

  • Reattach the arm and reinstall the 13-mm nut.

  • Reattach the cover to the base of the arm.
