Center Console Jeep Compass Removal

The center console in a Jeep Compass is the center section of the dashboard consisting of the temperature controls, radio and CD player. You can remove the center console if you need to replace the radio or repair any of the controls on the console.

Electrical Connections

  • The center console has many electrical connections. It is essential that you raise the hood of the car and disconnect the negative terminal battery prior to removing the center console. This will prevent an accidental short circuit.

Dash Trim Panel

  • The center console consists of an individual panel or cover that goes over the controls. Use a pry bar or your hands and unsnap the shifter trim to the side. The top center dash panel above the AC vents is a separate panel you have to unsnap. Unsnap the dash trim panel where the climate controls are.

Controls and CD player

  • To access components such as the temperature controls or CD player beneath the center console panel, use a Phillips screwdriver to remove the setscrews holding the climate control panel to the back of the center dash panel. The radio consists of four 7-mm screws that have to be removed. Unplug the radio before removing it.
