Daihatsu Timing Tools

You need to perfectly time everything on your vehicle for maximum efficiency and to extend the life of your parts. Timing tools help you correctly align and time the different components on your Daihatsu vehicle. Daihatsu Motor Co., headquartered in Osaka, Japan, is a Japanese car maker, and it started in 1951. This company generally manufactures small passenger cars.

Crankshaft Timing

  • The crankshaft is located within your engine, and it is responsible for converting the motion of a linear piston into rotational movement. Usually, crankshaft timing tool is shaped similar to a “L,” and the head of the tool is either split or circular. This tool holds your crankshaft in place while you are manipulating the engine valve train or changing the timing belt. You can also purchase a crankshaft timing pin, which also holds the crankshaft in place. These keeps the timing marks in line while you are working. While you are working on the crankshaft, make sure that it’s not leaking and replace the crankshaft seals if necessary.

Timing Belt

  • The timing belt is responsible for keeping your engine valves in sync. If this belt goes bad, you would need to replace it. Get a steering wheel pulley, which helps you remove the crankshaft pulley, if you cannot reach your timing belt. Or, you can purchase a harmonic balancer puller helps you remove multiple components, including the pulleys, gears and balancers. Purchase a set of wrenches and sockets because you usually need to remove the crankshaft bolt to reach the belt. Depending on the model, screws may secure your timing cover over the timing belt, so have some screwdrivers on hand.

Flywheel

  • The flywheel stores rotational energy, and it resists movement. This device prevents your shaft from becoming unstable when you exert fluctuating torque on it. The flywheel locking tool or pin keeps your flywheel from moving while you are working on other systems. This ensures that your flywheel stays in time no matter what you are doing. This tool just slides into your flywheel and locks it in place.

Camshaft

  • The camshaft is attached to your cam, and it controls the movement of the poppet valves. The camshaft timing tool prevents the camshaft from moving when you are replacing the timing chain. This tool usually has pins that fit into the sockets. While you are manipulating the timing chain, check for leaks in your camshaft and replace the seals if necessary.
