How to Replace Ford Bronco II Clutch Slave Cylinder

Replacing the clutch slave cylinder on your Ford Bronco II a fairly simple process, which is fortunate as the cylinder is essential for operating the vehicle's hydraulic system. To replace the slave cylinder, the Ford Bronco II must first be lifted with a jack. It should take about one hour to replace your Bronco II's slave cylinder, which is located on the transmission of the Bronco.

Things You'll Need

  • Flathead screwdriver
  • Jack
  • Disconnect the clutch master cylinder pushrod from the clutch pedal. The pushrod is found underneath the left side of the dashboard. To disconnect it from the clutch pedal, simply pull it off. Disconnect the clutch pedal position switch in a similar fashion.

  • Remove the two clutch master cylinder push pins with a flathead screwdriver.

  • Place the jack under the Ford Bronco II and lift it up to a comfortable height.

  • Disconnect the clutch fluid hydraulic-line by pulling it off the slave cylinder. Rotate the slave cylinder 45 degrees clockwise to remove it from the vehicle. Install a replacement slave cylinder by placing it into the firewall of the Bronco II and twisting it 45 degrees counterclockwise to secure it.

  • Reattach the hydraulic line and lower the Bronco II. Reattach the two push pins and the pushrod.
