The Ford Falcon is a compact classic: a versatile triumph of style and substance from a splashy era in American automotive design. If the dashboard in your Falcon is cracked or corroded, it may need to be replaced. You can take out the dashboard of your Ford Falcon yourself using some common tools available at any hardware store. This procedure will probably take you about an hour, and will not require any specialized mechanical training.
Disconnect the negative cable from your Falcon's car battery with an adjustable wrench, and put the negative cable in a safe place. This will protect against electrical damage as you remove the dashboard.
Unfasten the screws of the glove compartment and pull it out of the dash. Disconnect all clips or fasteners that keep the door of the glove compartment in place. Unfasten all of the screws of the lower part of the dashboard and let the dashboard's lower section drop to the floor.
Detach the radio's faceplate and loosen the radio bracket with a screwdriver. Detach the wiring in back of the radio and remove the radio from the dashboard.
Unfasten all of the screws on the dashboard's top section using a screwdriver. Also remove any additional screws you may find along the dashboard's sides.
Pull out the dashboard in order to gain access to its backside. Crawl underneath the dashboard and disconnect all electrical wiring. Use a grease pencil to label all wiring and harnesses to easily remember their locations. After disconnecting all wiring and attachments, slide the upper dashboard out of your Falcon.
