F250 Dashboard Installation Instructions

The Ford F-250's dashboard houses many of the truck's electrical devices. The heater core, the radio system, and the A/C blower are all within the F-250's dashboard. Accessing any of those components requires the removal of the dashboard. Re-installing it in the truck is easier than removing it, but it is still a fairly lengthy process. You should expect to spend well over an hour to re-attach all of the panels, bolts, and screws.

Things You'll Need

  • Socket wrench
  • Slotted screwdriver
  • Phillips screwdriver

Removal

  • Open the F-250's hood and remove the negative battery cable with a socket wrench.

  • Use a slotted screwdriver to pry out the clips securing the bottom portion of the center dash bezel, then unsnap the clips at the top of the trim panel. Remove the center dash panel from the vehicle. Grasp the radio trim bezel with both hands and pull it off. The center dash bezel is the large plastic frame of the dashboard located directly in the center of the dashboard in between the instrument panel bezel and the passenger's side bezel. The radio trim bezel is underneath the center dash bezel and is the plastic frame surrounding the radio.

  • Use a slotted screwdriver to pry off the hood release handle and emergency brake handle. Both the hood release handle and emergency brake handle are located below and to the left of the steering wheel, on the far left dashboard wall. Remove the two retaining screws securing the lower edge of both of the knee bolsters with a Phillips screwdriver. The driver's side knee bolster is directly below the steering wheel and above the brake and accelerator pedals. The passenger's side knee bolster is directly below the glove compartment.

  • Open the glove compartment and press downward on the door stops to release the upper half of the glove compartment. Pull the glove box up, then out of the dashboard. The glove compartment is the plastic box that can be used for storing various objects and can be found on the right-side of the dashboard.

  • Pull up on the dashboard to release it from the F-250. You may need to use slight force to disengage the plastic locking tabs along the edge of the dashboard.

Installation

  • Snap the dashboard onto the F-250. Make sure the plastic tabs click into place. There are four plastic tabs on the dashboard, one on each corner of the dash.

  • Re-attach the glove compartment by snapping it into place on the dashboard.

  • Re-attach the knee bolsters by reinstalling their two lower screws.

  • Re-attach the trim bezel by snapping it back onto the truck. Re-attach the hood release handle and the emergency brake handle in a similar fashion.

  • Re-attach the center dash bezel and secure it by reinstalling the plastic clips around the edge of the bezel. Reconnect the battery by reattaching the negative battery cable.
