The fan blower motor in most vehicles is located on the underside of the dashboard, above the passenger foot well area. This motor is responsible for blowing the hot and cold air out of the vents. When the blower motor fails, the air will not move out of the vents, resulting in poor heating and cooling circulation. Replacement blower motor units are available from most local auto parts stores and new car dealerships.
Turn off the vehicle's engine and place the transmission into park (automatic) or first gear (manual). Apply the parking brake and turn on the interior dome light.
Shine a work light underneath the dashboard on the passenger side of the vehicle. Pop the plastic protective panel loose under the glove compartment area and set it aside.
Locate the blower motor. It is normally held in place with 3 to 4 steel screws, has an two-wire electrical connector attached to it and is made from black and white plastic.
Disconnect the motor's electrical connector and remove its steel retaining screws using a 1/4-inch ratchet and an appropriately-sized socket. Remove the blower motor from the vehicle.
