How to Remove a Blazer Speaker

The Chevrolet Blazer has speakers in the two front doors, the two rear doors and on the dashboard. You can remove the speakers to repair or replace them if you have the right tools. The dash speakers are the easiest to replace. The door speakers are slightly more difficult to remove because of the interior door panel.

Things You'll Need

  • Socket wrench
  • Phillips screwdriver
  • Flat-head screwdriver
  • Torx screwdriver

Door Speakers

  • Open the hood and use a socket wrench to disconnect the battery.

  • Remove the screw securing the armrest to the door with a Phillips screwdriver. Remove the armrest.

  • Remove the door lock panel screw with a Phillips screwdriver. Remove the door lock panel.

  • Remove the eight poppets securing the door panel. Use a flat-head screwdriver to remove the black poppets.

  • Pry the door panel off with a flat-head screwdriver and remove it.

  • Remove the four Torx screws from the speaker using a Torx screwdriver. Disconnect the wiring connector from the speaker.

  • Pull the speaker out of the Blazer.

Dashboard

  • Open the hood and use a socket wrench to disconnect the battery.

  • Insert a flat-head screwdriver underneath the grill on the dash and pry it off.

  • Disconnect the wiring connector from the speaker by squeezing the plastic tabs and pulling it off.

  • Remove the four bolts from the speaker using a socket wrench.

  • Pull the speaker out of the dashboard.
