How to Manually Close the Sunroof on a Toyota Solara

First released in 1999, the Toyota Camry Solara is available as a mid-size coupe or convertible and offers both 5-speed automatic or 5-speed manual transmissions. Standard features include an 18.5 gallon gas tank, tire pressure monitoring and a rear spoiler. Available as an upgrade on coupe models, the power sunroof may stop working due to power failure or other issues, but can still be closed manually.

Things You'll Need

  • Phillips screwdriver
  • Flathead screwdriver
  • Allen wrench
  • Remove the Solar's headliner by first removing the sun visors using a Phillips screwdriver. Place the screws in a safe place where you can find them later.

  • Remove the plastic trim pieces and handles that line the interior using your hands or by prying them gently with a flathead screwdriver until the sunroof motor is exposed.

  • Unplug any electrical wiring.

  • Find the connector for the sunroof's motor.

  • Insert your allen wrench.

  • Turn your allen wrench clockwise until the sunroof is closed and secure.
