How to Replace a Volvo V70 Bumper Cover

The bumper cover on your Volvo V70 helps prevent damage to your vehicle if it is involved in an accident. If your bumper cover is damaged, you should replace it. Replacing the V70's bumper cover is fairly simple and can be performed in under fifteen minutes, as the cover is held in by only a few screws and pins.

Things You'll Need

  • Socket wrench
  • Flathead screwdriver
  • Phillips screwdriver
  • Remove the V70's headlight washers by removing the bolt securing them to the vehicle with a socket wrench. If you cannot pull the headlight washers out by hand, use a pair of pliers to pull them straight out. Once the washers have been removed, slide the hose off of the washer arm.

  • Remove the six push pins from the top of the bumper cover. Use a flathead screwdriver to pry the pins off. Remove the two side trim strips with a flathead screwdriver.

  • Remove the two screws at the front of the bumper with a Phillips screwdriver. Before removing the screws, have another person support the bumper cover to prevent it from falling off and causing injury.

  • Place the replacement bumper cover onto the front of the V70 and secure it by installing the two front screws. Reattach the six pins across the top of the cover and reinstall the two side trims. Reattach the headlight washers to the V70.
