How to Program a Mitsubishi Keyless Entry System

Programming a keyless entry remote is usually done when you purchase a new remote for your keyless entry system. When your new key arrives, it won't start your car because each Mitsubishi vehicle is equipped with its own specific programming code. Most Mitsubishi vehicles use the same method of programming, but you should check your vehicle owner's manual to insure the process is the same for your Mitsubishi's specific year, make and model.

  • Look for the data port in your Mitsubishi vehicle -- it is located under the driver's side of the dashboard.

  • Put your key in the ignition. Follow this by insuring that the metal pins located in the data port are in the 1 and 4 slots. Connect the pins with a jumper wire.

  • Perform this step within 10 seconds of connecting the jumper wire: Push the hazard switch in your Mitsubishi vehicle six times. Your Mitsubishi's door locks will lock and unlock themselves to indicate that you've done this correctly.

  • Press the "Lock" button on your keyless entry remote control. You have 10 seconds to push the "Lock" button after completing step 3. The door locks will once again lock and unlock, confirming that you've completed this step.

  • Test the keyless entry system after removing the jumper wires from the data port.
