How to Remove RSX Rear Bumpers

Rear bumpers can easily be damaged by backing into an unseen object or by being rear-ended in a collision. The rear bumper on an Acura RSX is made of a flexible, plastic material that is painted to match the color of the car. You can remove the rear bumper in less than 30 minutes in your driveway, using a few household tools.

Things You'll Need

  • Phillips screwdriver
  • Ratchet
  • Socket set
  • Locate and remove the four Phillips screws along each end of the bumper, just behind the rear tire. These screws are on the edge of the rear bumper and are facing directly towards the rear tires. Remove them completely.

  • Open the trunk of the RSX and peel back the carpet liner away from the very rear of the trunk floor. Locate and remove the three bolts that are along the back of the trunk by using the socket and ratchet. The bolts go through to the top of the rear bumper.

  • Use the ratchet and 8 mm socket to remove the bolts from the license place. These bolts are also holding the rear bumper to the car. The bumper should come right off the back of the RSX.
