How to Replace Low Beam Lights on a 2009 Honda Civic

The low beam headlights are very important to the safety of your 2009 Honda Civic. Driving with faulty headlights not only reduces your road vision, but oncoming drivers will have a hard time spotting your vehicle. In addition to the risk of an accident, there is also the chance you might get a ticket from the police. Replacing the low beam light is simple. All you need is a flat-tip screwdriver and a replacement 9006-type bulb.

Things You'll Need

  • Flat-tip screwdriver
  • Clean cloth
  • Replacement 9006-type bulb
  • Turn the wheels all the way to the side you will be changing the bulb on. If you are changing the left side low beam, move the wheels as far to the left as they can go. Open the hood.

  • Use the flat-tip screwdriver to remove the two holding clips from the inner fender. Pull the inner fender cover back.

  • Remove the bulb from the headlight assembly by rotating it counterclockwise. Remove the electrical connector from the bulb by pushing on the tab and pulling the connector down.

  • Use the clean cloth to install the new bulb and rotate it clockwise to lock it into place. Push the electrical connector onto the bulb.

  • Reinstall the inner fender cover and the holding clips. Close the hood.
