How to Disable the Seat Belt Chime in a Dodge RAM

The Dodge Ram comes equipped with the BeltAlert restraint system indicator. BeltAlert uses the seat sensors in your vehicle to sense when a passenger or driver is not wearing their seat belt. BeltAlert chimes for several minutes if a seat belt is not being utilized. To disable BeltAlert, you do not have to be a mechanic and you can do the reprogramming yourself from the comfort of your vehicle's seat.

  • Sit in your car's driver seat and close the door. Make sure that all doors are closed.

  • Place your Dodge Ram key in the ignition. Do not turn on the car. Buckle your seat belt.

  • Turn the ignition key to the "On" position. The seat belt reminder light will turn off after a few moments.

  • Buckle and unbuckle your seat belt three times within 60 seconds of turning the vehicle on. Buckle your seat belt one more time.

  • Turn the ignition to "Lock." The chime will sound one time to indicate that BeltAlert has been disabled.
