The 2002 Chevrolet Silverado is equipped with daytime running lights for safety. The daytime running lights are built into the turn-signal and parking-light assembly. Daytime running lights became a standard feature on many vehicles for safety, increasing the visibility of the vehicle on the road. Purchase two number 4157K bulbs for your daytime running-light system at an auto-parts retail store or Chevrolet dealership. Change the bulbs at home to save substantial repair costs.
Raise the hood of your Silverado. Remove the two pins securing the headlight assembly by turning each pin clockwise then pulling it straight up. Pull the headlight assembly out of the front of the truck. Unplug the wiring-harness assembly by pulling the connector straight back. Set the headlight assembly aside.
Press the retaining clip on the outside corner of the turn-signal light assembly, in the engine compartment. Pull the assembly forward. Press the release lever on the bulb socket for the daytime running light, which is the one all the way on the inside of the assembly, turn the bulb socket counterclockwise, then pull the bulb and socket out of the assembly.
Pull the bulb out of the socket and discard it. Insert the new bulb into the socket. Replace the socket in the assembly and turn it clockwise to lock it in place. Align the light assembly in the mounting area. Push it into position until it clicks.
Insert the headlight assembly into the mounting area. Reconnect the wiring-harness assembly by pressing the connections together. Insert the retaining pins by pushing them straight down into position, then turning them counterclockwise until they lock in place.
Repeat the process on the opposite side if necessary. Close the hood and test the new bulbs.
