How to Replace Window Wiper Arms on a Monte Carlo

The window wiper arms on your Chevy Monte Carlo may be starting to show their age. Since the arms are powder-coated, it's not uncommon for the coating to flake and peel over time. Since new wiper arms tend to be expensive compared to refinishing the existing arms, you can have the arms refinished and save money. To do this, however, you must know how to replace the window wiper arms.

Things You'll Need

  • Socket wrench
  • Socket set
  • Lift the wiper arms away from the windshield. The wiper arms have a spring-loaded hinge that will lock in an upright position. This will allow you to remove the arm.

  • Remove the retaining nut at the base of the wiper arm that hold the arm to the wiper motor assembly.

  • Pull the wiper arm off the wiper motor.

  • Install the new arm and lower the arm to the windshield. Installation is the reverse of removal.
