How to Change the Light Bulbs in the Dash of a Dodge Intrepid

The light bulbs in the dash of a Dodge Intrepid may burn out over time. While they ought to last, theoretically, for the life of the vehicle, they often do not. There is no service life for the light bulbs, so you simply change them when they blow out. Replacement bulbs are available at any auto parts store. Simplly take the old bulb in and ask for a replacement bulb.

Things You'll Need

  • Cross-point screwdriver
  • Remove the two screws on the underside of the dash cowl.

  • Pull off the trim bezel that surrounds the gauge cluster and dash assembly by pulling it forward with your hands.

  • Remove the four screws that hold the gauge cluster in place.

  • Slide the gauge cluster forward, and remove the electrical plugs from the back of the cluster.

  • Replace the bulbs that are blown. Turn each bulb counterclockwise to unlock it from the dash cluster assembly, then pull the bulb straight out of the housing. Insert the new bulb, align the tabs on the bulb with the notches in the back of the cluster and turn it clockwise to lock it into the housing.

  • Reassemble the dash. Assembly is the reverse of disassembly.
