How to Remove a Door Panel on a Volvo S80

The S80 is a mid-sized luxury car sold by the Swedish auto manufacturer Volvo. Compared with other components on the S80, the door panels are simple to remove for the average person. Rather than using door clips that require a special tool (most vehicles), the S80 uses a simple push-pin clip that can be disengaged with household tools.

Things You'll Need

  • Pliers
  • Small flat-head screwdriver
  • Torx screwdriver
  • Small Phillips screwdriver
  • Pop the hood and unhook the negative (-) battery cable with the pliers.

  • Pry off the side mirror sail panel (upper-corner of door panel) with a small flat-head screwdriver.

  • Pry off the small panel inside the door armrest coin holder. Remove the torx screw located behind the panel.

  • Locate the eight tiny clips around the perimeter of the door panel (three on each side, two on top). The clips are attached by small push-pins. Insert a small Phillips head screwdriver to disengage the clips.

  • Grab each side of the door panel and snap the panel off with force. Pull the panel a few inches away from the door.

  • Support the panel and unhook the wiring harnesses from behind it. One wiring harness is for the power door locks, the other is for the power windows. Once they are unhooked, the entire door panel can be removed.
