How to Remove a Radiator Cap From a Chevy Venture

The radiator cap on the Chevy Venture serves an important function. It holds the pressure of the cooling system so that coolant flows continuously through the radiator. You may need to remove the radiator cap on occasion to fill the radiator with coolant or to test the cooling system. While normally safe, you should never attempt to remove the radiator cap while the engine is hot. This can result in serious burns.

  • Allow the Venture to cool down completely. The cooling system is both hot and under pressure. At normal operating temperature, the coolant can reach several hundred degrees Fahrenheit and can cause serious burns on your skin, or cause you to go blind if it gets into your eyes.

  • Locate the radiator cap. The radiator cap is located on the top right hand side of the radiator.

  • Push down on the radiator cap with the palm of your hand.

  • Turn the radiator cap counterclockwise to unlock it and pull the cap off the radiator.
