How to Replace a Power Mirror in a Nissan Pathfinder

The Nissan Pathfinder's complex power mirror and door panel construction makes it a project for an experienced do-it-yourself vehicle owner. The project only requires a few basic tools for model years 1996 to 2004.

Things You'll Need

  • Screwdriver
  • Wrench

Remove Old Mirror

  • Disconnect the car's battery before starting to avoid injury.

  • Take the interior door handle assembly off, using a screwdriver.

  • Take the door's armrest off the Nissan Pathfinder's front door assembly.

  • Pull the power window switches off and disconnect the connectors.

  • Detach the bolts and clips holding the door panel. Lift the panel off the door.

  • Take out the clip securing the inner cover of the mirror and the harness connector.

  • Remove the bolts holding the mirror in place, then take the mirror assembly off the Pathfinder.

Install New Mirror

  • Push the new mirror into place making sure the electrical connector is through the hole and connected.

  • Replace the mounting nuts.

  • Attach all electrical connectors including the new mirror.

  • Put the door trim panel back in place, add all screws and put the door handle assembly back on the Pathfinder.
