How to Replace the Fuses in a Cadillac Escalade

To aid in removing the fuses in your Cadillac Escalade, you'll find a fuse puller in the left instrument panel fuse block on the driver's end of the dashboard. Depending on the year of your Escalade, you may also have a fuse block in the engine compartment between the brake reservoir and the fender, a third fuse block under the dash to the left of the steering column, a fuse block on the passenger's end of the dashboard or a rear compartment fuse block behind the access panel on the left side of the rear compartment. Never replace a fuse with one of higher rating.

  • Turn off the ignition before performing any work with fuses. Locate your fuse panels and open the covers to see which has the fuse you'll need to change. Read the inside of the cover to determine the location of the fuse you wish to replace. For example, if you wish to replace the back-lighting fuse for your steering wheel controls in the 2014 Cadillac Escalade, you'll find it in slot No. 12 in the left instrument panel fuse block.

  • Remove the fuse by using a fuse puller or your fingers. Verify that it has been blown; a broken or melted silver band in the middle of the fuse shows that it is indeed blown. Replace the fuse with one of the same amperage rating.

  • Close the cover on the fuse block and check to make sure the problem is fixed.
