AAA Tow Truck Requirements

AAA is a popular acronym that stands for the American Automobile Association. People refer to "Triple A" membership and the benefits of membership. AAA offers a range of services from roadside assistant and towing to maps and insurance. AAA services are available around the country in every state. Certain requirements must be met in order to receive help from AAA, such as tow truck services.

Membership

  • To receive AAA tow truck services, you must be an AAA member. Membership is available through the AAA website or by calling 800-222-4357. Members must have their membership card with them at the time of service, and it must be issued in their name. When the tow truck arrives, this card will be required for service.

Photo ID

  • AAA tow truck requirements specify that the card-carrying member of AAA must present photo identification in addition to a current membership card to verify their identity.

Physical Presence

  • The card-carrying member of AAA must be present in the car. They must either be the driver of the vehicle or a passenger of the vehicle to receive roadside assistance and tow truck services from AAA.

Condition

  • The condition of the vehicle must be so that services of a tow truck are warranted. For example, the car has a flat tire.

Limited Usage

  • AAA tow truck services are limited to four uses per year, per member. Members can still receive tow truck service in excess of four times, but the member will be charged for the services.
