Hopefully, whenever you need repairs to your vehicle, you will have access to a mechanic. However, there are times when you need to fix a few things on your Mazda on your own. This is why everyone should be able to remove and replace a windshield wiper. When a wiper malfunctions, it can scratch the glass or create expensive damage. Find the plastic covers on each pivot of the wiper. Take the screwdriver and carefully remove. Locate the nuts underneath the plastic. Remove both nuts.
Pull the wiper back as far as you can, just as you would to wash the windshield. Move the wiper up and down several times for easy removal. Set the old wipers aside and check at the base of the windshield. There you will find plastic covers. Remove these, just as you did the first ones.
Remove the screws. As you put aside the plastic covers, you will discover about six more screws underneath. One by one, with the help of the screwdriver, remove them all. At this point, you will be able to see how the wiper is linked to the motor through a simple ball and socket joint. (Replace if it appears worn out.)
Take the new wipers and reverse the steps you have done up until this moment. Before you put the new arms on, ensure that the socket and the arm are clean and free of debris. Use a cleaner intended for brakes.
