The alarm system installed on the 1997 Nissan Maxima is different from that found in later models in that the alarm is both triggered and disabled using the remote fob. Unlike other Maxima models on which the alarm can be triggered by anyone attempting to open the vehicle without a key, the alarm on the 1997 Maxima can only be manually triggered through the vehicle's remote fob. Fortunately for owners of this model Maxima, the alarm can be disabled using the same button used to trigger the alarm.
Press the "panic" button on the remote fob.
Press the "unlock" button on the remote fob.
Press the "lock" button on the remote fob.
