How do I Repair a Pioneer CXC5719 Remote?

The Pioneer CXC5719 is a compact, credit-card sized remote designed to control the Pioneer CD player installed in an automobile. The CXC5719’s button batteries have a limited life and will cause the remote to cease working when they have been discharged of current. To repair the CXC5719, open the casing and replace the batteries.

Things You'll Need

  • Bath towel
  • Flat-edged jeweler's screwdriver
  • Compressed air
  • Needle-nosed pliers
  • Flashlight
  • Replacement button battery
  • Place a bath towel on a table to protect the surface. Place the CXC5719 remote face up on the towel.

  • Insert the tip of a flat-edged jeweler’s screwdriver into the seam between the front and back cases at the upper left side. Pull the tip down the length of the remote until you reach the lower left side. Pull the tip across the bottom of the remote until you reach the right side.

  • Pull the tip up the right side of the remote until you reach the top right corner. Pull the tip across the top of the remote until you reach the upper left corner. Remove the tip of the flat-edged jeweler’s screwdriver.

  • Pull the front case of the remote off the back case. Turn the front case over. Place the front case on the towel next to the back case.

  • Blow a blast of compressed air at the front case. Wipe the edges of the front case with a lint free cloth.

  • Locate the button batteries in the back case; the silver color of the batteries gives them away. Aim a flashlight at the batteries and note the positive ("+") or negative ("-") labeled text on the top of each. Remove the flashlight.

  • Insert the tip of the flat-edged jeweler’s screwdriver beneath one of the two batteries at the side closest to you. Lift the tip up to loosen the battery from inside the battery clip. Grip the edge of the battery with the needle-nosed pliers. Pull the battery out of the battery clip. Dispose of the battery properly. Repeat this procedure to remove the other battery.

  • Hold one of the two replacement batteries by the edges with the positive or negative labeled text on the top, depending upon how the original battery was placed.

  • Grip the edge of the battery with the needle-nosed pliers. Push the battery into the battery clip. Push down on the battery with the tip of the needle-nosed pliers to seat it inside the battery clip. Repeat this procedure to insert the other battery into the case.

  • Blow off the back case with a burst of compressed air. Clean the edges of the back case with the lint free cloth.

  • Turn the front case over. Place the front case on the back case. Push down on the sides of the front case to seat it on the back case. Push down on the top and bottom to seat the top case to the bottom case.
