How to Install a Boss BV7950 Car Stereo

The Boss BV7590 is an in-dash car radio and DVD receiver with a 3.5-inch monitor and a USB port. A remote control is also available, so that the receiver can be accessed from the passenger seat or from the back seat of the vehicle. Installing the device is a fairly easy process because you don't need to wire any connections for the receiver. However, you will require the correct tools to complete the task successfully.

Things You'll Need

  • Flathead screwdriver
  • DIN tool
  • Wire harness adapter
  • Receiver sleeve

Remove Old Radio

  • Remove the trim panels that surround the radio, if any. Pry the panels off with a flathead screwdriver to release the plastic clips.

  • Insert a DIN tool, a U-shaped radio removal tool, into the holes on the left and right side of the radio. Pull the old radio out of the dash.

  • Disconnect the wiring harness and antenna from the rear of the radio. Set the old radio aside.

Install New Receiver

  • Connect the wiring harness to the wiring harness adapter. Plug the wiring harness adapter into the back of the Boss BV7590.

  • Plug the antenna into the back of the receiver.

  • Insert the receiver sleeve into the dash and push it into place. Push up the plastic tabs with the flathead screwdriver.

  • Insert the receiver into the dash, and push gently until you hear it engage the plastic tabs. Press the "Power" button to turn on the receiver and verify that it is working correctly.

  • Set the trim panels back in place on the dash.
