Headlamps on a vehicle are obviously of utmost importance to drivers. On occasion, the headlamp bulbs can burn out, just like regular light bulbs. When headlamps on a 2007 GMC Sierra burn out or aren't functioning well enough, they need to be replaced. Luckily, headlight bulb replacement can be done just about anywhere as long as you have replacement bulbs handy.
Pull the hood release lever on the inside of the vehicle.
Lift the hood by pulling up on the secondary release lever located under the front edge of the hood. Prop-up the hood if necessary.
Rotate the retaining pins on the headlamp assembly and pull them out to release the headlamp assembly. The outer pin turns outward and the inner pin turns inward. Pull up on the pins after loosening them to remove them from the assembly. Save them for later.
Remove the headlamp assembly, and disconnect the wiring harness.
Rotate the bulb that needs to be replaced (high beam or low beam) counterclockwise, and remove it from the assembly.
Insert the replacement bulb, and turn it clockwise until it is snug.
Reconnect the wiring harness, and place the headlamp assembly back to its original location.
Reinsert the retaining pins to secure the headlamp assembly. The outer pin will now need to be turned inward and the inner pin will need to be turned outward. Make sure the pins are snug.
Close the hood firmly, and test the new bulb. Discard the old bulb.
