How to Bypass the Bose Amp in RSX Type S

When using a high powered amplifier in your vehicle (including a Acura RSX Type S), such as a Bose amp, you either are going to be drawing an additional electrical current from your vehicle's battery or require a separate battery for the stereo system. This is either going to reduce your battery life or be an added expense. Instead, you can just bypass the Bose amp and connect your speakers directly to the car stereo receiver.

Things You'll Need

  • Wire caps
  • Locate the Bose amp in your Acura RSX Type S. This is typically in the trunk of your vehicle.

  • Remove the wires running from the stereo into your Bose amp's "Rear Left" connection port, then remove the wires running out the "Speaker Rear Left." Twist these wires together and place a wire cap over the connection.

  • Repeat the task with "Rear Right" and "Speaker Rear Right," as well as the front two speakers. When you attach the wires together and place the cap over the connection you are bypassing the Bose amp and sending the audio signal directly from the stereo receiver to the speakers. You can always remove the wire caps and plug the wires back into the Bose amplifier at any time you choose.
