The amplifier power cable is essential in installing an aftermarket car stereo amplifier into your Honda Accord. The amp requires an independent power connection to the vehicle's battery. Use a power supply cable from an amplifier wiring kit to connect the Accord's battery to the amplifier. Running the cable from the battery to the amplifier can be performed by a car audio professional or you can do it yourself and save the cost of labor.
Pull the hood release lever located on the left side of the steering wheel, under the dashboard. Move to the front of the Honda and lift the hood. Loosen the bolt on the negative and positive battery cable clamps with a 10mm wrench.
Remove the negative battery cable clamp from the battery terminal and set it aside. Lift the positive battery cable from the positive post and place the ring terminal from the amplifier wiring kit onto the post. Replace the cable clamp over the positive terminal and tighten the bolt with the wrench.
Remove the fuse from the fuse holder on the ring terminal. Insert the power supply cable from the amp wiring kit into the end of the ring terminal.
Locate the opening in the Accord's firewall leading to the inside of the passenger cabin. The opening is located on the left side of the engine compartment and already has cables and wiring fed through to the inside of the vehicle. Feed the power cable through the opening into the Honda's driver's side foot well. Move to the inside of the vehicle.
Route the cable along the driver's side of the vehicle. Pry the rubber panels on the side of the Accord near the door openings away from the side of the vehicle with a trim panel removal tool and tuck the cable beneath. Route the cable from the foot well on the driver's side to the rear cargo area of the vehicle (either the trunk or the rear of the hatchback).
