How to Install Grand Cherokee Subwoofers

Make your Jeep Grand Cherokee into a music haven by upgrading your stereo system. There are a range of options available to make the stereo louder and clearer but no stereo upgrade is complete without a pair of subwoofers to top it off, helping to create the crisp bass reproduction you're looking for. The Jeep Grand Cherokee has a huge trunk so you can add a pair of subwoofers and still have usable space to spare when you're finished.

Things You'll Need

  • 2 Subwoofers
  • Subwoofer box
  • Speaker wire
  • Screwdriver
  • Screws
  • Heavy-duty Velcro
  • Wood glue
  • Fabric glue
  • Measure the length of the box you're planning to use and measure the width and length of the trunk. The box should fit either sideways or length ways in the trunk. Make sure it has space for two subwoofers.

  • Attach the speaker wire to the terminal cap on the back of the subwoofer box. Run the wire to the first speaker and attach it. Attach a piece of wire to the back of the speaker and run it to the second speaker, and attach it there. One wire should go from the terminal cap to the first speaker, another should run from the first speaker to the second speaker.

  • Secure the speakers in place using the screws.

  • Attach two pieces of heavy duty Velcro to the long sides of the bottom of the subwoofer box using the wood glue. Place two corresponding pieces on the carpet in the trunk using the fabric glue.

  • Run the wires from the amplifier to the terminal cap on the rear of the speaker box. The route will depend on where the amplifier and speaker box are going to be located but you can hide the wires by lifting the edge of the plastic trim and the carpet with the screwdriver and sliding the wires underneath.

  • Attach the wires to the terminal cap on the back of the speaker box. Place the subwoofer box on the Velcro strips.
