MTX 6500D Amp Specs

The MTX Thunder 6500D is a single-channel monoblock amplifier designed for use with subwoofers in automotive applications. It uses a Class-D amplification circuit, which offers better performance and lower distortion in a more efficient package requiring less input power and heat dissipation. It is designed to work with two or four ohm loads, making it a good match for just about any subwoofer.

Power Output

  • The Thunder 6500D generates 250 watts into a 4 ohm load and 500 watts into a 2 ohm load. During brief peaks, it has dynamic power of 450 and 770 watts, respectively. To generate this much power, it has three power connections which each carry 25 amp fuses.

Sound Quality

  • As a subwoofer amp, the 6500D has a limited frequency response of only 20 to 200 hertz. To ensure that only the right signals meet the amp, it has a variable low pass crossover with a 24 decibel per octave dropoff and a range from 40 to 200 hertz. It enjoys a low noise floor, based on its signal-to-noise ratio of at least 100 decibels.

Connections & Controls

  • The MTX Thunder 6500D has stereo input and output jacks with standard RCA terminals. It also features a speaker level input, as well as controls for gain level, Thunder EQ bass boost and roll off frequency. MTX also included an EBC terminal for use with an external bass controller. Its output panel features a power terminal, ground connection, remote connection and terminals for two speakers.

Dimensions

  • Including its isolation feet, the MTX Thunder 6500D is only 2.1 inches tall. It is 11.5 inches long and 9.75 inches deep.
