How to Remove a Volvo Xc90 Car Stereo

The Volvo XC90 came with a factory CD player in most models, and some had additional accessories as well. But the stereo that came from Volvo will always be the same, while the aftermarket is always producing new stereos with more features. Changing out the stock deck for an aftermarket model can increase resale value as well as add new features to the vehicle.

Things You'll Need

  • Flathead screwdriver
  • Sit in the driver's seat. Pull the gear shifter in the center console as far back as possible. Pull the trim ring around the shifter back toward the rear seat, then push it toward the driver's side seat. Pull it out of the console and set to the side.

  • Use the flathead screwdriver to unscrew the two screws underneath the climate controls, revealed by removing that center console trim. Pull the climate control and radio assembly toward you to release it from the dashboard. Twist the assembly to the side and unplug the wiring harnesses.

  • Unscrew the radio from the bracket securing it to the assembly. Pull down the clips holding it to the assembly.
