With a small, reasonabley-priced device that allows you to play your iPod's music through your car's stereo, you can add some fun entertainment to any long drive. Though H3s are not equipped with the auxiliary jack like most recent car models, you can still use your radio and an iTrip to transmit your music when you want to.
Buy the iTrip Auto FM Transmitter from the online Apple Store (see Resources) or at a electronic retailer near you. It allows you to play music from your iPod by transmitting the music to a local empty radio station. The music can then be played through your car's sound system.
Find an FM station that is free of any service. The only sound you might hear is some static on the station. Blank stations can usually be found on the higher and lower numbered stations on the radio.
Power the iTrip by plugging it into your H3's power source (traditionally the cigarette lighter).
Insert the other end of the iTrip into the dock connector port of the iPod, located on its bottom side. This is the same place where you would plug you iPod in to charge the battery.
Power on the iTrip, and use the "+" and "-" buttons to set the iTrip to the same blank station found on your radio.
You can now start playing music on you iPod, and it will play through your car speakers. You may need to find new blank stations as you travel across longer distances.
