How do I Make My C6 Louder for Cheap?

The C6 Corvette was first made in 2004 and released in 2005. It remains, as of July 2011, the current body for the Corvette. The stock exhaust system on the C6 is no slouch; for those who want to make the car louder, though, there are options. After-market exhaust systems can be expensive for the C6, especially ones that will make the car loud. Straight piping is the easiest way to make the C6 extremely loud. It is also, by far the cheapest.

Things You'll Need

  • Welding tools
  • Straight pipe
  • Jack
  • Lift the rear of the C6 up on a jack, stand or lift. Make sure the car is safe and securely in position.

  • Examine the exhaust system. The C6's dual exhaust mufflers lead back and connect to a single pipe from the engine.

  • Use a welding torch and sever the connection between the single pipe and the dual exhaust system. Unhook the dual exhaust system from the car. Now there should only be a straight exhaust pipe running from the engine.

  • Weld a straight pipe of the same diameter to the single exhaust outlet from the engine. The straight pipe should protrude just slightly past the rear of the vehicle, like a normal exhaust would.

  • Turn on the C6. The difference should be immediately apparent. The straight pipe exhaust system will be thunderously loud and also increase performance; due to the free flow of the exhaust. Drive the car and test how it sounds through the power band.
