How to Turn Off the Backup Camera in a Toyota Tundra

Some people prefer a traditional approach to driving, while others prefer all the modern bells and whistles. An example is rear visibility. Traditionalists prefer mirrors and non-traditionalists opt for rear-view cameras. If you're a traditionalist and want to disable the backup camera in your Toyota Tundra, you can do so in a few easy steps.

Things You'll Need

  • Screwdriver
  • Wire clippers
  • Electrical tape
  • Turn off the Tundra and remove its keys.

  • Flip down the overhead console, then loosen and remove both screws holding it in place.

  • Unclip the harness and remove the overhead console to expose a harness with several wires.

  • Locate the single green wire and cut it.

  • Tape both ends of the wire so there is no connection between the ends.

  • Replace the overhead console, plug in the harness and tighten the screws.
