How to Replace the Ignition Cylinder in a 2007 Saturn Vue

The ignition cylinder is an often overlooked, but essential part of many cars. Vehicles like the Saturn Vue feature a cylinder just off of the steering column that, like most cars, allows you to insert and turn your key to start the car. You can replace these cylinders if they break using just your ignition key and a simple household tool.

Things You'll Need

  • Key
  • Straightened paper clip
  • Enter your car and have your ignition key and a straightened out paperclip with you and ready.

  • Insert your key into the cylinder and then insert the paperclip into the small slot just to the left of the cylinder.

  • Turn the key to the "Acc" position, and pull the cylinder out using both the key and the clip.

  • Place the cylinder down, and remove the clip first before removing the key.

  • Insert the new cylinder by itself, and then put your key into the key slot. Insert the paperclip next and then turn the key to the "Acc" position again to lock the new cylinder in place.
