How to Modify a Honda Civic

A Honda Civic is a favorite among car enthusiasts to modify and customize. Besides being inexpensive to purchase, aftermarket part companies have made thousands of parts just for the Honda Civic. From performance to looks and from the interior to the exterior, the modifications are endless. Depending on the exact modification and your automotive experience, some modifications can be done by you and some need to be handled and installed by a professional.

  • Swap the factory engine for an engine that has been modified or has more potential. Civics are equipped with either a single overhead cam engine or a double overhead cam engine. The double overhead cam engines can be made to replace the single overhead cam, adding more power to that Civic. This modification is best left to a professional mechanic.

  • Replace the factory wheels and tires with an aftermarket set. The type of wheels you get should reflect the types of modifications you are doing to the car. If you like the show scene, you may want to use chrome or billet rims. If you are racing your Civic on the track, aluminum wheels are better.

  • Install a body kit on your Honda Civic, which can give it an aggressive and unique look. Have the kit painted before installing it on your Civic for the best look.

  • Have the factory fabric seats in the Civic reupholstered in leather for better looks and more comfort. The plastic parts and dash inside the car can be painted to match the seats or another color theme.

  • Paint the Civic with aftermarket custom paint instead of keeping the factory paint job. Add graphics or designs in the paint to really modify the way the car looks on the exterior.
