How to Program a Jetta Keyless Remote

The Jetta is one among the few models of sedans available from Volkswagen that feature keyless entry capabilities. This technology allows the use of a small, hand-held remote to wirelessly control the car's locks, panic alarm and trunk release. You can program the remotes for your Jetta yourself, with no professional experience or equipment, and you can have the programmed remotes ready to use in a matter of minutes.

  • Enter your Jetta with your keyless remote and two ignition keys. Insert one key into the ignition, and insert the other into the outside lock on the driver's side door.

  • Turn the key in the lock counterclockwise to the "Unlock" position, and hold it there for 10 to 15 seconds, until the car lock system beeps three times.

  • Press any button on your keyless remote, and wait for the car horn to beep once. This beep indicates successful programming.

  • Turn the key to the left again and hold it until you hear the three beeps again. This will close the programming sequence and end the process.
