How to Disable a Mazda Keyless Remote

Key fob remotes are popular accessories for many types of cars. The remotes are used for convenience and security, but can easily get lost, allowing anyone access to your locks, trunk, panic alarm and car starter. While you can program the remotes in just minutes from your car, you can also remove the remote from the transmitter system using a similar process, right from your driver's seat.

  • Enter you car and close all of the doors behind you, excluding the driver's door.

  • Insert your key into the ignition and turn the key "On" and then "Off" once and remove the key.

  • Repeat the previous step two more times, cycling the key twice more and ending in the "Off" position.

  • Close and open the driver's door three more times and wait for a chime to sound within the car. This will open the programming sequence.

  • Do nothing with your remotes and they will be removed from the system. Turn the key back to the "On" position to end the disabling process.
