Exhausts to Improve MPG

Your vehicle's stock exhaust was likely selected by the manufacturer as a balance between costs, performance and noise control. As a result of this compromise, your exhaust system can likely be upgraded to increase the performance of your engine and exhaust system. A quality performance exhaust can increase horsepower and torque. Increased power results in higher MPG when the vehicle is driven moderately.

MagnaFlow

  • MagnaFlow exhaust systems are noted for their more mellow tone than some of the competing brands. Fully stainless steel exhaust systems are available, and all their systems are dyno tested to determine the performance gains. Magnaflow mufflers are commonly available at local muffler shops and can be coupled with steel pipes for cost savings.

Flowmaster, Inc

  • Flowmaster exhausts are commonly noted as having a more noticeable exhaust sound profile than other brands. However, their product line does include the Hushpower mufflers, which are designed to significantly reduce the sound output. As with other exhaust brands, exhaust systems from Flowmaster include products for virtually all vehicle types and brands. As with MagnaFlow, Flowmaster exhausts are available at many local muffler shops.

Borla

  • Borla exhaust systems are marketed as "The World's Most Winning Exhaust" due to the high level of use of the mufflers in the racing industry. Borla exhausts are patented and typically use a multi-core design allowing an increase of exhaust flow over even straight pipes. Borla exhaust systems are noted for a deep throaty rumble and smooth exhaust sound output. The "Touring" exhaust is the most mellow and quietest of the exhaust systems, providing near stock like sound qualities at cruising speeds.

Gibson

  • As with other brands, Gibson performance exhaust systems are designed to reduce back-pressure and increase horsepower. Available for virtually every kind of vehicle, including RV motorhomes and side-by-side ATV's, the GIbson exhaust system is one of the industries sought after exhaust systems. Systems are available as full kits --headers through tailpipe -- or as parts for replacing portions of your current exhaust, such as the muffler.

GReddy

  • GReddy exhaust systems are less commonly found in local muffler shops, but are readily available through performance tuner shops. Applications are tested for United States specifications to ensure they are street legal. Many of their products are also dyno tested, and as with other brands, their products are primarily made with highly polished stainless steel.
