How to Gold plate most metals

You will learn how to use an Electronic pulse plater. Not only will you be able to gold plate, you can chrome,and nickel plate. Any metal that a magnet will stick to can be plated. Finish product is as shiney as the original surface after extreme polishing.

Things You'll Need

  • pulse plater,activator,nickel,chrome,gold solutions,electrodes,metal polish,magnetic apron,cloth wands,rubber bands,roll 'round table,stool,plastic cups,spray bottle with water,
  • First thing is to prepare surface to be plated. Place magnetic apron around surface, so run off will go in desired container. Start off with a polish for metals. Any metal polish will work. After polishing hook the ground wire from plater to the metal piece. Pour your Activator in a plastic cup and dip electrode with cloth wand into Activator. Rub entire surface until satisfied that no contaminants remain. Rinse with water.

  • Rinse out wand and pour Chrome plate solution into new cup. Dip clean wand into solution and rub over entire surface like you did with the Activator. You will have to change settings on plater. Finished surface should have a highly reflective finish. Rinse with water.

  • Rinse wand out again. Use same cup of Activator for this process. Dip wand into Activator and rub over entire surface. You will see no effect to the Chrome shine, because all your are doing is cleaning it. Once satisfied of coverage rinse surface and wand off with water.

  • Prepare new cup for Gold gel. Dip damp wand into gel and rub over entire surface in a slow circular motion. When surface shines with gold it is finished. Rinse off with water.

  • Rinse off wand and get Activator cup. Dip wand and rub over entire part until eradication of all contaminants. Rinse with water when finished.
