When traveling with extra luggage, supplies or people, you can quickly run out of storage room in your vehicle. A roof top cargo container creates additional storage space on any car, van or SUV, even if the vehicle does not feature a roof rack. No tools are necessary to connect the cargo carrier, and complete installation can take just a minute or two. Proper mounting will ensure you can use your cargo container for many trips to come.
Put the cargo container at least 1 foot behind the front edge of your vehicle roof.
Open the container, and load it while it is on top of the vehicle.
Pack the cargo container as full as you can. Cushion hard or sharp objects, and distribute weight evenly. Fasten the container clips, or zip it closed if your carrier has a zipper.
Position the cargo container either between or on the side rails of the roof rack.
Put the top strap under the two strap guides on top of the container, going from left to right across the vehicle to the side rails.
Fasten the short strap and the long strap to the side rails. Thread each strap buckle through the loop sewn on the opposite end of the strap. Buckle the two straps to the top strap.
Pull the free ends of the straps to tighten and secure the cargo container. Stick the free ends under the straps to prevent flapping while driving.
Put the top strap under the two front strap guides on top of the container, going from left to right across the vehicle. Open the front doors of the vehicle, and run the inside strap through the interior and out the opposite door. Fasten the buckle from the inside strap to the buckle on the top strap. Repeat with an additional top strap. Put the second top strap through the back doors if there are four doors on your vehicle.
Separate the inside straps inside the vehicle if they are touching.
Pull the free ends of the straps to tighten and secure the cargo container. Put the free ends under the straps to prevent flapping while driving.
