How to Upgrade the Infinity G35 Performance

The Infinity G35 is no slouch in the performance department. The latest generation of the Infinity G35 produces more than 300 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque in its stock form. This is certainly more than enough for most practical situations. However, with the G35, horsepower gains aren't difficult to achieve. Therefore, many enthusiasts upgrade their G35's V6 engine, installing everything from internal modifications to fully built turbo kits. Extensive modification isn't necessary, though, if you're looking to upgrade your Infinity G35's performance. You can achieve 30-horsepower gains from your G35 with just basic bolt-on modifications.

Things You'll Need

  • Intake kit
  • Exhaust headers
  • After-cat exhaust system
  • Install an aftermarket intake system on your Infinity G35. Various manufacturers produce cold-air intake systems. These incorporate a refined intake pipe design, which places the air filter away from the heat of the engine bay, ideally in the path of oncoming ambient air. Expect to see gains of around 10 horsepower from your G35 with a cold-air intake system.

  • Replace your Infinity G35's stock exhaust headers with aftermarket units. Aftermarket headers are manufactured to reduce exhaust flow. In turn, horsepower is increased, although aftermarket headers will increase exhaust noise. You can gain as much as 10 horsepower with an aftermarket header kit on your G35.

  • Upgrade your G35's after-cat exhaust system with an aftermarket unit. This will remove the exhaust restriction of the stock system, although an aftermarket after-cat exhaust will make your G35 much louder. An aftermarket cat-back exhaust system can squeeze another 5 horsepower out of your G35, while simultaneously offering extensive weight savings.
