How to Remove the Intake From a Nissan Quest

The Quest was a minivan made by Nissan. It went on a hiatus after the 2009 model year was produced. Like all modern vehicles, the Quest has an air intake system. This system consists of the intake hose and the air intake box. When removing the intake, you may remove the hose, the box or both components. The process takes about 30 minutes with common tools.

Things You'll Need

  • Phillips screwdriver
  • Ratchet
  • Turn off the Quest's engine. Let the engine cool for 20 minutes. Open the hood and find the air intake box and the intake hose on the right side. The intake box is a black square box about the size of wide loaf of bread. The intake hose is attached to the side of it.

  • Loosen the Phillips screws from the two air intake clamps. There is one clamp on either end of the air intake. Unplug the breather tube and the electrical connection from the side of the air intake tube.

  • Grasp the end of the intake hose that's attached to the air intake box. Pull it away from the air intake box to disconnect it.

  • Move to the other end of the air intake hose. Pull it away from its mount. The intake is now separated from the Quest. Continue only if you want to remove the air intake box as well.

  • Push down the clamps on the side of the air intake box. Loosen and remove the bolt from the top edge of the box. Lift the box's lid to remove it. You'll now see the filter. Lift the filter out.

  • Remove the two bolts from the inside of the air intake box. Remove the two bolts attached to the bracket that's attached to the side of the intake box. The intake box is now detached.

  • Lift the air intake box out of its place to remove it.
