How to Program Keyless Entry on a Ford Ranger

Keyless entry on a Ford Ranger has been a standard market option since at least the late 1990s. The keyless entry remote on these vehicles allows you to open your doors and your trunk, and allows you to start your car or trigger your panic alarm. These remotes can be programmed at a dealership, but it is much cheaper to do it yourself at home.

  • Sit inside your Ford Ranger with all the doors unlocked and closed.

  • Place the key in the ignition and cycle the key from "On" to "Off" eight times, without actually starting the ignition of your Ford Ranger.

  • Wait for the car to automatically trigger its locking system, at which point it will lock and unlock.

  • Press the lock button on your remote to lock your doors.

  • Remove the key from the ignition in your Ford Ranger and lock the doors manually. Try the remote again to make sure the programming was successful.
