How to Install a Rear Spoiler on a Dodge Charger

The Dodge Charger is a revitalized muscle car that in recent years has been brought back into production to fill a void for all of those looking for a family sedan-style sports car. Aimed largely at the baby boomers who grew up with Dodge, Chevy and Ford coming out with domestic muscle cars on a regular basis, the Charger delivers comfort and city styling, with a healthy amount of "kick in the seat" power. Along with the performance enhancements available for this car are also the aesthetic enhancements such as spoilers and light covers. If you have recently purchased a new rear spoiler for your Charger and are ready to install it, you have come to the right place.

Things You'll Need

  • Ratchet set
  • Drill
  • Spoiler kit
  • Marker
  • Adhesive foam
  • Pop the trunk and locate all of the wires, lights, carpeting etc. that might be in the way of mounting screws and drilling holes when you mount the spoiler. There are typically only three to four screws depending on the type of rear spoiler that you purchased, so this should not be difficult.

  • Close the trunk and position the spoiler on the trunk lid in the location of your choosing. Try to align the spoiler with the rear of the trunk as much as possible and then use the marker to make marks on the trunk lid indicating drill holes.

  • Drill holes in the trunk in each of the marked locations. Lay adhesive foam over each of the holes and then install the spoiler with the manufacturer provided hardware. Pop the trunk and use the ratchet to tighten down the spoiler bolts from inside the trunk. Close the trunk and head to the paint shop.
