How to Replace the Power Output Cover in a Chevy Avalanche

The Chevrolet Avalanche comes with two power outlets. You can use these outlets to plug in a cell phone charger or a charging plug for another device. The outlets have a small flip-style cover that opens, similar to a door. The cover is attached to the power outlet by a small trim ring. To remove the power outlet covers, you just need to gently pry off the trim ring.

Things You'll Need

  • Flathead screwdriver or trim stick
  • Sit in the Avalanche's driver side seat. Inspect the center-storage tray between the front seats or the dash panel below the radio to find the power outlets. They may be in either location depending on your Avalanche's configuration.

  • Open the cover on the power outlet. You'll see the black plastic trim ring surrounding the outlet. This is the part that connects the flip-style cover to the outlet.

  • Pry around the edges of the plastic ring to remove it from the power outlet. Pull it off and set it to the side.

  • Repeat for the other power outlet, if desired.

  • Open the replacement power outlet cover. Push the ring over the power outlet. Push it with the flathead screwdriver or trim stick to snap it onto the rim of the power outlet. Close the cover. Repeat for the other power outlet, if desired.
