How to Customize My Car With Rims

Just like people like to express their sense of fashion by wearing shoes, cars can be customized by rims as well. Aftermarket rims are similar to stock aluminum alloy rims except that they come in different sizes and have much flashier styles. Because of the ease of installation, adding aftermarket rims is one of the easiest things you can do to customize your car and show off its true personality.

  • Decide on the size of the rims for your vehicle. If you have a compact or sports car, 17.5 to 19 inches is a recommended size. If you have a truck or an SUV, you can find sizes up to 26 inches. Keep in mind that the larger the rim, the higher the price.

  • Decide on the style. Rim styles include chrome finishing, gun metal and different colors like black and white. You can also choose how you want the rim to look. These options include varying the number of spokes, or having spinners. The spokes on spinner rims will rotate when in motion. This is one of the higher-priced options.

  • Choose a customization package. Often, auto customization vendors will offer a rim and tire package at a cheaper price than if you were to buy both separately.

  • Copy a picture of the rims you are interested in and paste it into a digital picture of your car. Use Adobe Photoshop, Paint, or any other photo-editing software. The idea behind this is for you to see how the car looks with the rims before you make a purchase.

  • Order rims and make a purchase by going to your local auto shop and choosing from its selection, or buying a set from an online vendor. Although buying rims may be cheaper online, you have the benefit of asking a sales rep at an auto shop your questions and concerns.
