Nitto took a different approach for its recent tire launch; instead of comparing the newest Motivo to a similar competitor, they fitted a fleet of Jaguar XF in three of their own options: the max performance Nitto NT05, ultra-high performance Motivo and luxury sport UHP INVO. They also had a stock XF with factory-equipped Continental ContiProContact tires, which are a tough tire to beat...

While a road test would certainly suffice, we were able to put the tires to the test with access to open lapping on a local racetrack.

Enthusiastic drivers, such as ourselves, would probably be most attracted to a tire that allows you to explore the outer limits of a car's abilities, and that tire was easily the NT05. But for a car like the Jaguar, your wife and kids might not agree during a long journey.

The Motivo tires displayed superior predictability that the factory Contis, which was a surprise to everybody on hand. Even in the wet, they were a better fit. This was thanks to the Motivo's fin sipes that disperse water and add extra biting edges for increased traction in inclement weather.

Worried about uneven wear? The Motivo has alignment indicators that will give you a heads up when it's time to rotate or correct your alignment. The Motivo's silica rubber compound gives a good balanced feel in all conditions, but as a UHP tires, it's happiest on warm, summer days.
