How to Use Ryobi Buffing Compound

Ryobi compound is a paste with tiny particles in it that buff out minor imperfections in metal surfaces, including car paint finish. By applying the compound to the buffing pad of a power buffer, you can restore your car's finish in a few steps.

Things You'll Need

  • Ryobi buffing compound
  • Power buffer with soft pad
  • Safety goggles
  • Soft cloth
  • Car wax
  • Apply a small amount of the Ryobi buffing compound onto the buffing pad. The amount you use at one time should be about the size of a pea. Put on your safety goggles.

  • Wipe the buffer and buffing compound on the problem area to spread the compound a bit.

  • Keep the buffing pad pressed lightly to the car's surface and turn on the buffer to a speed less than 3000 rpm. Begin buffing the problem area with light pressure and back and forth, not circular, motions.

  • Buff the area for less than a minute and then turn off the buffer. Wipe the area with the soft cloth. If you're satisfied with the buffing, wipe away all the buffing compound with the cloth. If not, repeat the buffing process until the results are to your satisfaction.

  • Wax the areas you buffed to protect them.
